The most widely used criteria for assessing a diamond’s quality is the Four C’s. Canturi expert gemmologist’s select diamonds using this method to ensure your diamonds’ sparkle and brilliance.
KARAT
The unit of weight for a diamond is commonly expressed in points. Each karat equals 100 points. Larger diamonds are valued because they are found less frequently in nature.
COLOR
White diamonds are transparent, most display barely perceptible hints of color. The fewer colors in a diamond, the more rare it is. Diamonds are assessed and classified using an alphabetical scale ranging from D to Z. D marks an exceptionally white diamond, which is rare and valuable.
CUT
The cut determines the beauty of the diamond more than anything else and refers to the stones proportion, symmetry and polish. A diamond cut to exacting proportions by a master craftsman will enable light to reflect inside the stone from one mirror-like facet to another and reappear through the top of the stone making it brilliant.
CLARITY
Virtually all diamonds contain naturally occurring characteristics commonly known as ‘inclusions’. When viewed using magnification they look like tiny crystals, clouds or feathers. The clarity grade is determined by the size, number, position and general nature of the inclusion.
